In 2023, while in hiatus from Heart, Ann Wilson released a full-length album of original material, Another Door. The album was unfortunately, like so many “classic rock” artists’ new material, largely overlooked. It was though chalked full of some really strong material and impressive musicianship. The band did though record their September 2023 set in Nashville which became a live album/CD and a PBS special. Much to fans’ delight, Mercury Studio will release on June 6, 2025 the show on Blu-Ray and streaming. It is available for Pre-Order Here.
The first thing to note is that the video includes six of the the eleven songs from the Another Door album. It is certainly a rarity for any artists to do six new songs in a 90 minute set but demonstrates her faith and commitment to the strength of the material. Even upon resuming touring with Heart, “This is Now” is still a staple of the “Royal Flush Tour”. Of course there is the must-have Heart songs like “Alone”, “Barracuda”, “Even It Up” and more. It is interesting to note that the line-up of Tripsitter is essentially now what is Heart. Only Nancy Wilson and Ryan Waters are in Heart and not on this video.
In one of the classiest moves Ann included a track from Annie Bosko who was in support of Ann the night the video was recorded. In decades of watching concert recordings that might be a first and truly a nice passing of the torch so-to-speak. Performing with another artist is one thing, this was a whole new level.
For fans of what might be the greatest voice in Rock music, this is a can’t miss package. As Ann’s recent fight with cancer has underscored, we can’t take these artists for granted.
