– Nothing More has been around for nearly 10 years, but didn’t really breakthrough until their 2014 self-titled release – Nothing More. When the first single “This is the Time (Ballast) hit the band found themselves in the spotlight, playing festivals and getting tons of airplay on satellite radio. Now they are out on a headlining tour and it is a show unlike any I have seen in a long time.
The I Know Jenny tour rolled into Pittsburgh’s Altar Bar with special guests Wilson and Red Sun Rising. Both openers were well worth showing up early for. Nothing More hit the stage les by charismatic vocalist Jonny Hawkins. The band started out strong with the song “Mr. MTV” and did not let up once. This was probably one of the bigger stage setups at Altar Bar, seeing how the band brought 4 gian light towers with colored spotlights that filled the venue and added to the intensity of the show. After the fourth song Daniel Oliver’s bass guitar was inserted into a steampunk inspired stand and Oliver was joined by Hawkins and guitarist Mark Vollelunga for a very interesting and entertaining bass solo.
The high energy show came to an end like all good things when Hawkins announced that “Salem (Burn the Witch)” would be their last song. He did promise though that they were gonna go ape shit and give it their all. And that they did, but breaking into a 4 way drum solo straight out of a STOMP performance.
Nothing More put on a great show and if you get a chance to catch them do not pass up the opportunity. Here’s hoping that we see a lot more of Nothing More.
