Album Review: Kobra and the Lotus

Kobra And The Lotus
From Universal Music comes the self-titled Kobra And The Lotus album from Canada’s Kobra Paige and her band Kobra and the Lotus.  The lead single “50 Shades Of Evil” really sets the tone for the album well.  You get Kobra’s dynamic range and shredding guitar.

The listener is really given a lot of different things to listen to sonically.  Technically this isn’t their first album as they had an indie release in Canada in 2010, this album is strong melodically and features fantastic production.  Fan of Dragonforce, Sister Sin and shred guitar will enjoy the album.  “Welcome To My Funeral” though is probably the gem of the album.  It features crushing rhythms.  I will stop short of labeling this as Power Metal only because the themes lyrically aren’t consistent but if you like that style you will enjoy.

We were fortunate to speak with Kobra Paige on Episode 196 of the Iron City Rocks Podcast.  You can listen to that below.
