It’s weird seeing Robert Plant without Jimmy. I imagine it’s like seeing someone date after the breakup of a couple. You want them to be happy but it takes some getting used to. If you enjoyed the Page/Plant MTV era “UnLedded” though, give Live At David Lynch’s Festival Of Disruption a chance. Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifter performance is available February 9th from Eagle Rock Entertainment on DVD and digital download. Filmed in 2016 at the Ace Hotel Theatre in Los Angeles, this show was a benefit for the David Lynch Foundation. Robert & Co put on a hour log set featuring some of Zeppelin’s classics “unledded” if you will and several stand-out tracks from the 2014’s Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar album. Plant’s voice is in fine form and any thought that maybe he’d lost a step are certainly unfounded. The band does a respectful job of the classic Zeppelin tracks introducing instruments that most of us could not name. The result though would certainly be something a Zep fan would enjoy. “Going to California” in California was a great closer to the set. Plant engaged the crowd to sing and the band did a masterful job of the rich sound of Zep 4 classic.
A portion of the sales of the DVD will benefit the David Lynch Foundation.
