For someone who is not familiar with the Knoxville band Straight Line Stitch, they would be amazed to know that the soft-spoken, petite woman sitting at their merch table early in the evening would transform completely the moment she hit the stage at the Dead Horse Cantina in McKees Rocks on December 19. Alexis Brown releases guttural growls comparable with some of the best male metal vocalists then transitions seamlessly into soaring melodies. They did not disappoint and they tore through their set with ferocity, Alexis jumping and swinging her waist-length braids and the rest of the band rocking with intensity. The band was amazing in a club setting and has a great on-stage chemistry.
As is always appreciated by fans, Straight Line Stitch was very sincere in their thanks to their fans, both for supporting them over the years and for bringing along toys for their toy drive that will be donated to Toys for Tots. Alexis happily provided autographs and photos to anyone who asked and genuinely seemed to appreciate her fans. The tickets were only $8 and the Dead Horse Cantina is a great venue for a show like this, the informal atmosphere is perfect for a small metal show and parking is free and easy to find.
