Dirty Honey and Mammoth WVH – Roxian Theater – 3/20/2022

On March 20th, the Young Guns tour featuring Dirty Honey and Mammoth WVH rolled into the Roxian Theater and brought with it an evening of pure no-frills rock-n-roll.  The tour is a co-headlining tour where each band plays a full set and trade off spots.

For this stop on the tour Mammoth WVH started the night off in strong fashion, opening their hard-hitting set with the track “Mammoth”.  Wolfgang Van Halen knows how to deliver and what he delivers is a set of songs that are catchy and heavy with no gimmicks. With the exception of a cover of Alice in Chains’ “Them Bones” and a new song called “I Don’t Know At All” the set consisted of songs from their debut album which was faithfully reproduced live. Wolfgang even mentioned how he brings out his keyboard even if he just uses it a few times during the set because he wants to give everyone a true rock performance.  On stage Wolfgang is humble and appreciative and the crowd loved him.  Being a life long Van Halen fan, it was great to see Wolfgang making the name his own.

Dirty Honey took the stage and enchanted the audience from the very first note they played. Kicking Dirty Honey took the stage and enchanted the audience from the very first note they played of their classic blues-based music.  The band kicked things off with “California Dreamin’”, and delivered a solid set of crowd-pleasing, high-energy rock including a searing rendition of Prince’s “Lets Go Crazy.  The band harkens back to the old days of rock shows where there are no gimmicks and the band let’s their performance and music do the talking.

After seeing both bands it is refreshing that these “young guns” know what true rock-n-roll is and they know how to deliver it.
